  1. M82 is the sister galaxy to M81, just 38
  2. minutes away. This is a fine example of
  3. an irregular galaxy, looking more like a
  4. galactic cigar than anything else.
  5. Generally easy in small telescopes, it
  6. takes a larger instrument before the dark
  7. dust lanes can be seen. M82 is also a
  8. strong radio object. This is one of the 
  9. smaller galaxies, being only 16,000 light
  10. years across, one-eigth that of the 
  11. Milky Way.
